Depending on your source, we already pay a little over $1 trillion a year in taxes to the federal government, but they are spending about $3.7 trillion a year. In other words, even if tax revenue was doubled, we would still be well over $1 trillion in the hole, per year. This is truly frightening, and I hope that there are politicians who are ready to stand up and confront the real cause of our massive debt, namely out of control spending.

It just goes to show that it is always risky to declare a winner before the last vote is counted, especially in a race this tight and hotly contested.
